666 BACKERS HELP OMINOUS PRESS SUCCESSFULLY FUND BEASTS OF THE BLACK HAND GRAPHIC NOVEL KICKSTARTER

TONAWANDA, NY (December 4, 2017): File under: you can't make this up. A total of 666 backers pledged to the Kickstarter campaign to make the BEASTS OF THE BLACK HAND graphic novel a reality. The 64-page hardcover graphic novel, created by sculptor Paul Harding, produced by Sean HusVar, written by Ron Marz, drawn by Matthew Dow Smith, and colored by Neeraj Menon, was successfully funded through a recently-ended Kickstarter initiative. Ominous Press exceeded its initial goal of $24,000, and successfully raised $32,894 via a Beastly 666 backers.

The BEASTS OF THE BLACK HAND graphic novel will be completed in mid-December. With a few weeks for production, then printing in January, the book is anticipated to arrive in the hands of backers by February, 2018. Backers will also receive their supplemental rewards, including exclusive dust jacket variant covers, T-shirts, art prints, and even exclusive sculptures from Paul Harding.

By reaching the $30,000 plateau, Ominous Press is including spot-varnished covers for every copy of BEASTS OF THE BLACK HAND, as well as a special four-page preview of BEASTS OF THE BLACK HAND Volume 2. The Volume 2 cover by Matthew Dow Smith was also revealed online. With the successful funding of Volume 1, the creative team is already gearing up to bring a second volume to fans.

And that’s a wrap! Thanks to all 666 (yes, you read that right – 666) backers, Beasts of the Black Hand is officially funded! The success of this campaign has been an awesome team effort from all involved, but the project is only a reality thanks to all of you amazing backers. Not only did we meet our initial goal of $24,000, but we also blasted through some awesome stretch goals.

Thanks to your pledges, all print copies of Beasts of the Black Hand will have glorious spot varnish covers! Thanks to exceeding stretch goals, this volume will also include a special four-page preview of Beasts of Black Hand Volume 2, which we hope to fund in 2018. Here's a look at Matthew Dow Smith's initial cover for Volume 2, side by side with the Volume 1 cover. Cool, huh?

Now that the campaign has ended, our team will be working to get the book into your hands as quickly as possible. We expect to be finished with the entire graphic novel by mid-December. After a few weeks for production, the book will be ready for printing, and should arrive back from the printer in January. We'll have the book in your hands in February. Of course, we'll keep you updated as we move through the final stages of production.

As we approach the last few hours of the Beasts of Black Hand campaign and reach toward our stretch goals, we have another reveal. Known for his masterwork The Goon, writer-artist Eric Powell was on the top out our list for a variant cover image. When Eric suggested a Rasputin-centric image, we knew we were going to have a masterpiece on our hands. The mad monk has never looked better!

Eric's cover is one of five variant dust jackets available, along with images by Mike McKone, Meghan Hetrick, Mark A. Nelson, and Marc Laming. Covers by Matthew Dow Smith and Paul Harding are also available, and all seven images will be included in the art print set.

Even with a few hours to go, stretch goals are still in play! If we reach $35,000, four more preview pages from Volume 2 will be unlocked. And on the horizon, $40,000 unlocks 16 more pages in Volume 1, plus every print copy will be signed by creators Paul Harding, Ron Marz, and Matthew Dow Smith. Help us get there!

The Beasts are definitely being unleashed! With our initial goal surpassed, our backers will have the Beasts of the Black Hand in their hands by February. We're coming up only 24 hours left in the campaign, and we're marching toward more stretch goals and social goals!

We're approaching our goal of 1,000 Likes for the Beasts of the Black Hand Facebook book, which will unlock a logo sticker for every backer. We're also just a few hundred dollars from breaking the $30,000 barrier, which will unlock a cool spot varnish cover on all print copies of the graphic novel. The next stretch goal at $35,000 will unlock four more preview pages from Beasts of the Black Hand Volume 2.

$30,000 Goal Blasted!

We've blasted through the $30,000 stretch goal, which means all print copies of the Beasts of the Black Hand graphic novel will have glorious spot varnish covers!

Breaching the $30,000 barrier also means we now reveal our Mystery Goal! If we break the $40,000 barrier by the end of the campaign, we will add 16 pages to the graphic novel, making for an 80-page package. Also, every print copy of the graphic novel will be autographed by Paul Harding, Ron Marz, and Matthew Dow Smith.
