I've known Mike McKone for ... well, honestly, I can't even figure out how long now. We broke into the comic industry at about the same time, and have been friends for most of our careers. I've been fortunate to work with Mike a number of times over the years, and those projects remain among my favorites ever. He's one of the best artists working, and has been for a while.
Getting Mike involved in Beasts of the Blast Hand was a goal from the start of the project. Thankfully, he had time in his schedule to fit in a cover, which we reveal here for the first time. Mike's track record drawing heroes made the choice for his cover an obvious one: Oswald Rayner, the real-life British intelligence agent who is the hero of our story. I think you'll agree Mike captured both Rayner (that's a name I'm somewhat familiar with) and the atmosphere of our story. We couldn't be happier.
Mike's cover is just one of the variant dust jackets available with our Kickstarter, which features a powerful Matthew Dow Smith design as the regular cover. Other variant options include exquisite covers by Eric Powell, Meghan Hetrick, Marc Laming, Mark A Nelson ... and maybe a few other surprises yet to be announced. Of course, creator/sculptor Paul Harding has contributed an amazing sculptural cover featuring one of our Beasts.
The campaign has gotten off to a strong start, thanks to the support of our backers, but we still have a long way to go before Beasts of the Black Hand is fully funded. We need your pledges and your voices to help us spread the word about our unique project. Thanks for everything so far, and keep checking back for more updates and reveals.
Beast Wishes,
Ron Marz
